History lesson on the topic “Ancient Phenicia”

Fifth grade students in an ancient history lesson took a trip on a ship with scarlet sails to the distant ancient country of Phenicia. Students learned, what's there, where ancient Phenicia was, the state of Lebanon is now located. The guys found out the topic of the lesson, solved the puzzle.

During the lesson the children got acquainted with the, that the life of the inhabitants of Phenicia was connected with the sea, they were excellent sailors. We discovered that purple is a paint, which the Phoenicians extracted from sea shellfish, and only kings could wear purple clothes.
After studying the map we learned, that Phenicia consisted of separate
cities - states, learned to find and show them on the map. We learned that the Phoenicians traveled a lot and traded with neighboring countries, and for convenience they founded their colonies there. The largest of them was the city of Carthage.
The guys also learned, that the Phoenicians came up with a simple writing system, in it, each icon was a letter and denoted a separate consonant sound. This is how the alphabet turned out. The guys tried to write the word “sea” using the letters of the Phoenician alphabet.. Summing up showed, that the lesson aroused great interest
among students. Despite the high pace of work, The children perceived the presented material quite well.
