In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 6 June 2016 g. № 190
on 11 September 2016 was appointed elections
the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus consists of two chambers - the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic. The term of office of the Parliament - four years. At present there are the House of Representatives and the Council of the fifth convocation.
The House of Representatives has 110 deputies. They are elected by the citizens on the basis of universal, free, equal, direct suffrage by secret ballot. The House of Representatives can be a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, reached 21 year.
The Constitution refers to the competence of the House of Representatives consideration of draft laws, The appointment of presidential elections, giving consent to the appointment to the President, Prime Minister, hearing the report of the Prime Minister on the program of activities of the Government and some other questions.
At the meetings of the House of Representatives bill, как правило, considered twice. The first reading discusses the concept and feasibility of the bill. The President has the right to return the law to the House of Representatives with the objections. If parliamentarians agree with the objections, they modify the draft law, - if not, can vote for their decision by two-thirds vote of the full composition of each chamber and thereby overcome the objections of the Head of State.
